Most of the history of the family occurs in, and keeps returning to, the couple of square miles from Portobello through Rathmines and into Rathgar and Ranelagh. Here are some of the locations.

1. 43 Synge Street, where James Dowling and Eliza Keane lived.

2. The Church of the Three Patrons, Rathgar, where Robert married Maggie Gartland and later my parents, Osmond and Frances were married.

3. Rathmines Church, where Willie married Maud Kelly.

4. "Gosport", 8 Grosvenor Road, home of the Ennis'.

5. 53 Harold's Cross, home of the Gartlands and, for a while on their return from America, Robert and Maggie.

6. "Lismore", Kenilworth Park. Home of the Rochfort-Dowlings.

7. Synge Street CBS, where Willie went to school.

9. Grosevenor Road, where the Bowdens lived when Osmond and Frances married.

10. 41 Moyne Road, where my wife, Catherine, grew up.

11. Beechwood Ave Church, where Catherine and I were married.

12. St Kevins Park, Dartry. Dervla mentions this in her book but I've lost the reference for now.

13. Gonzaga College. I went to school here.

14. Stratford College - Iain's School.

15. Where Kathleen lives now.

16. Rugby Road, where Robert and Maggie lived.

17. 18 Garville Avenue, home of the Murphy's.

18. Charleston Ave, an earlier Murphy home.

19. St Louis Convent, where my mother (Frances) went to school.
