Maggie GartlandBorn: 29 December 1842 Died: 13 April 1925 Married to Robert Dowling, 11 April 1872 Children: Laurence, Emily, Elizabeth, William. From Kathleen's notes: My grandmother, Margaret Dowling (née Gartland) died 13th April 1925. Among the "Dowling Papers" is her baptismal cert, stating that - "Margaret Gartland of William Gartland and Margaret Johnston" was baptised according to rites of R. C. Church on 1st Jan 1843. Sponsors Terence Murphy and Mary Lear. They don't appear to know her date of birth. On return from America I believe she started a little K. G. school for a time. Then ran a shop - fruit & veg. I know she gave piano lessons and her daughter Elisabeth (my Aunt Lizzie) also gave piano lessons, and would play the piano at parties until the early hours of the morning. |
